{ Press } Focus Magazine of Winter Haven Feature
December last year I contacted Focus Magazine of Winter Haven regarding a part-time Contributing Writer position with their agency. I felt this position would be a great opportunity for me to share the spotlight with small businesses (like myself) here locally in Polk County, assist me with accomplishing one of my major goals this year - to participate in more community events, and to enhance my current professional/business network.
In early January I was contacted by Focus Magazine of Winter Haven to submit a "mock" event/story for consideration of the Contributing Writer position. Well, just so happen in December I attended a networking event for small business owners hosted by, Sooo Chic Accessories and co-hosted by Keisha J. Inc., and Kim Moore. Focus Magazine was so impressed with my "mock" event/story that they contacted me again to provide pictures and a little more detail about the event.
The event was a blast and I was more than elated to share with Focus Magazine of Winter Haven the highlights of the event. Focus Magazine did extend the opportunity for me to join their wonderful team of writer's, BUT (yes there is a but!) I declined - because I felt as though I am already stretched pretty thin with my full-time and part-time jobs. Although I graciously declined, Focus Magazine still has left the opportunity "open" for me to contribute/submit stories/events to them as I come across them.
So, I would like to take the time to "shout out" Focus Magazine of Winter Haven and thank you for providing me the opportunity to write my very first story for ANY magazine (although i'm not the best with wording/writing). This opportunity has really boost my self-esteem and has proven to me that I, Latisha Horton can do anything I put my mind to ... another notch on my belt ... Contributing Writer.
xoxo, Latisha
