FREELANCE - Polo Inspired Baby Shower Invite

The "Polo" Party theme is very popular this year and I've had several opportunities to tweak my Polo Invitation Design (view original design here). I also shared with you a couple of months ago another fun color scheme (view here) I worked on. Today I'm sharing with you new and fun color schemes customized to meet my clients needs:

{ Revamped } Party Collection - Coco Chanel

Currently, I am working on tweaking the "Coco Chanel" inspired party collection. This collection was first created in 2011, and has been screaming for a makeover! Finally, I've set aside some time to work on getting new and fresh designs into the shop, so far I have five NEW Invitation designs. I am hopeful everything will be added to the shop by the end of the week. Here's a preview of the new Invitation designs:

FREELANCE - BBQ Baby Shower Invitation

It's definitely "Baby" season, I've been extremely busy the last few months with Mom's wanting to connect with me for custom stationery for their Baby Showers. I've seen this "BaBy-Q" theme around the web quite a bit, and I think it's so stinkin' adorable - I love the color palette the Mom chose for her Invitation design. It reminds you of summer BBQ gatherings with family (and of course adding a new baby to the mix is always fun!)

FREELANCE - Polo Inspired Baby Shower Invite

Recently, I had the opportunity to tweak an older Polo inspired Invitation design. The mommy-to-be wanted traditional colors for the design - red, white, and blue. To make the colors pop a little more I removed the "dark" chalkboard look from the design and inserted white for a nice clean and crisp look.

FREELANCE - Graduation Dinner Invitation

Recently, I had the opportunity to create a custom - Graduation Dinner - Invitation design for Dr. Shepard. She wanted a design that was classy/sophisticated, but also spoke to her girly side (hint: the splash of pink and gold). Congrats Dr. Shepard on your milestone Graduation ... what an amazing accomplishment, many blessings to you and all of the lives you will touch!

FREELANCE - Superhero Invitation Design

Today I've been playing around with a few "Superhero" themed Invitation design concepts for a special little guy. Instead of the "traditional" cheesy "Superhero" theme, the mom has decided to add a twist to the theme by creating her very own Superhero! She wants to incorporate some of the traditional colors seen in most Superhero parties, but wants to add gold as an accent color ...

FREELANCE - Blues Clues Birthday Party

A little while ago, I was contacted to create this adorable Blues Clues inspired Birthday Party for a special little boy. Mom wanted bright, fun, and non-traditional colors... she left it up to me to put my own twist on the theme, of course I added stripes and polka dots (some of my fave patterns)! Check out this adorable theme below:

2014 New Year's Resolutions

This post was last updated December 31, 2014

Updated Comments are in [ Red ] or [ Green ]

It's New Year's Resolution time! To be totally honest… I’ve always thought of NYR’s as being wack and a total waste of time because I never can follow through with them and I hate disappointing/letting myself down with promises I couldn’t keep. I can’t remember the last time I’ve made any NYR’s for myself personally or for my business. This year I wanted to do something different – I want to make a change. I want to hold myself accountable for something. At the end of the year I want to be able to look back and reflect on all of the challenges, opportunities, or accomplishments I made throughout the year. I want to be able to say, “I tried” or “I did it!” I don’t want to drown myself in sorrows or “what if’s” this year. I plan to follow through with my NYR’s (goals) this year … because majority of them I dream about all of the time and sometimes lose sleep. Last year January 2013 I walked away from 9-5p job to enjoy my personal life with my family and to elevate my business to the next level. However, I feel as though I didn’t give a full 100% to either one of those goals and I did not push myself as much as I should have. Honestly speaking, I am afraid to face some of my goals but I feel as though – it’s time – to face those fears and stop taking life so serious and enjoy myself a little more. So here it goes …

My NYR (Personal Goals) List:

1. GET MARRIED! This is definitely #1 on my list –  April 22nd will be myself and Lamont’s 9th year together and we’ve been engaged for six years. Every time we get close to actually getting married a fear arises inside of me and I switch the date. Everyone that knows me (personally) teases us and doesn’t take me seriously anymore when I give them dates (and who can blame them), heck Lamont doesn’t even believe me anymore.  I brought this upon myself – I’m foreal this time ya’ll I’m getting married! No comment!

FREELANCE - 4th of July Inspired Invitation

I recently created a Fourth of July inspired Invitation for my Dad (or "Pops" as I like to affectionately refer to him). His actual birthday is on July 4th, which is very fitting for his fire cracker, wild, and crazy outlook on life. He is the type of person (or has the personality) you either "love him" or "hate him". From first glance if you don't know him or his genuine heart he may seem obnoxious and/or abrasive ... but really he is the most sweetest person in the world! I certainly do not want to sound cliche but, he will give you the shirt off his back. He really is a stand up guy and would do any and everything for anyone if he knew it was something he/she needed that would benefit/make his/her life easier.

I love this guy because he is a no nonsense type of person ... anytime I need quick advice on anything I know who to go to. He is always sincere and tells the truth and doesn't sugar coat anything for me. So, now that you have a little knowledge about this awesome guy that's apart of my life ... let's jump into this invitation design : )

Admittedly, I really struggled with this design ... It's always different for me when I'm creating something for close friends/family. I always want to go above and beyond to make them feel special and sometimes this hinders me during the design process. I had to psych myself out a few times (imagining that this design was for a regular customer) to get through it - lol. I wanted to keep the design clean, sharp, simple, and to the point. Also, I wanted to incorporate "LARGE" fonts in the design - since he's 60 and most of his friends are around his age range small and/or decorative script fonts would not be good idea. With all of those things in mind I came up with this Invitation design:

FREELANCE - High School Graduation Invitation

I had the opportunity to work with Ms. Keirra to custom create Graduation Invitations for her. Keirra's mom had an idea for the invitations and of course Keirra had her own idea for her invitations. So, I brought both of their ideas to life ... they loved them both and decided to get both designs printed (indecisive eh? I love these type of design problems!).

Way to go Keirra with reaching such an incredible milestone in your life - may God continue to bless you and guide you through your new journey of life : )

Photo Tips:

So, you find the perfect picture(s) for your graduation invitation and you're ready to submit them to me for your design. Please make sure that your image:

  • Is appropriate for a "Graduation" invitation, sometimes when I'm contacted by younger men/women (teens or early 20's) they're images may not be suitable for a classy occasion such as Graduation. Your invitation should be "timeless", you should be able to pull it out of your shoe box ten years down the road and smile (and not frown wondering "What the heck was I thinking?").
  • Is not CROPPED - this is a big one! Please leave the cropping to me... I work out of pretty large templates and if you submit to me a small cropped picture I may not be able to use it.
  • Is not a - picture of a picture - this means you pull out your nifty cell phone and snap a picture of another picture to submit to me. This is a BIG "no no"... Phone pictures are not quality and usually have to be stretched to fit in my templates. Also, these type of pictures tend to darken and when I "attempt" to brighten them they usually turn "orange". We're in a digital age now so if you don't "own" your own scanner then please have your pictures scanned at your local library or Office Store (such as: Office Max, Staples, Office Depot, Kinko's, etc.)
  • Is YOURS! What I mean by this one is... please do not send "watermarked" pictures to me from your school/personal photographer... this means this image does not belong to you and I WILL NOT use it.
If you have any questions concerning an image you would like to submit for a design please feel free to email me and I will let you know if it is usable or not.

{ Networking } Spectacular Brides of Florida Showcase

January 20, 2013 I was blessed with the opportunity to participate in my second Bridal Showcase (click here to read about my first one) - Spectacular Brides of Florida Showcase. I am referring to this Bridal Showcase as a "blessing" because I DID NOT have to pay to participate as a vendor in this show. Maricel the Lead Event Coordinator with, "Let's Make it Extraordinary, LLC" contacted me with the most amazing news ever (prior to the Bridal Show), stating that an anonymous person was inquiring to know if I would be participating in the upcoming Bridal Show. Maricel informed the person that I would not be participating and the anonymous person responded, that he/she wanted me to be there and would pay for my vending booth.

During my phone conversation with Maricel I remained composed and carried out the remainder of our conversation with plenty of smiles on my face, but when I hung up the phone with her all I could do is SCREAM - O EM  GEE - I could not believe someone who knows nothing about me was willing to do something so selfless as to invest in a small business to participate in a large/upscale Bridal Show. This experience was very humbling for me, just knowing that there is someone out there "rooting" for me... little ole' me ... someone wants to see my business blossom and gave me the opportunity to network with people that I may have never had the opportunity to network with. I am so grateful and appreciative and I just want my anonymous source to know I thank him/her 1,000 times.

Opportunities like this NEVER happen to me and it felt good being on this end ... receiving my blessing and grabbing hold to my opportunity to showcase my designs/skills ...

{ Networking } - Eccentric Designs First Bridal Show

December 9, 2012 I took a great leap of faith and exhibited at my very first Bridal Show held at - Lake Region Yacht & Country Club. I had such an amazing time networking and meeting with local businesses in my community. It was a great show with a nice sized crowd and more than I could have ever imagined it to be : )

It was so awesome being able to witness first hand the "talent" that was sitting right here (in my community) under my nose all of the time ... I had the most difficult time sitting still and "manning" my booth ... I wanted to venture out and connect with the other businesses and get to know all of them.

Admittedly, initially I was a little intimidated going head to head with so many professional and established businesses, but I was welcomed with open arms by all of the vendors. I didn't feel as though I was in a competition while I was at the Bridal Show ... I felt like I was networking with a group of "old friends" and we all had something different to share with the crowd and that's what made each booth unique.

Overall, the experience was great... the only thing I would complain about is MY TIME MANAGEMENT! I didn't get to work on all of my items until the week of the event ... and I've beaten myself up about it plenty of times (since then). I poured my heart into the items I had on hand, but I know deep down within I could have done a better job if I would have managed my time a little better : /

So, I definitely take everything with this entire experience as a lesson learned... I CANNOT WAIT TO SHARE ... the good news that I recently received weeks following this show - stay tuned for details!
